Newsletter Hi-Light— Automated Inspection (Vision Systems)

Automated Inspection is a very broad topic, it can mean anything from a simple sensor that verifies presence of a part to a full 3-D vision system. This article will focus on vision and laser based inspection systems. There are many hardware choices available for automated inspection systems all with their own advantages and disadvantages. We have aligned ourselves with a few local vision system vendors that have proved to be both technically savvy and responsive. This experience is one of the benefits we can provide to you in your quest for automated inspection.

Once an application has been evaluated, the appropriate inspection system can be applied. It may be a vision system or it could possibly be a simple sensor or even a laser profiling sensor. We at MJ have a wide selection of systems we are able to use to validate your application, whether it is a basic presence / absence or a coordinated multi-camera application providing OCR, dimensioning and data logging.

 The Fanuc R-30iA Controller comes standard with iRVision Hardware, this is the base system and not a 3rd party add on. By purchasing and installing the vision software in the controller and adding either a 2D or 3D camera you can immediately add vision to your robotic application.

Fanuc Machine Vision Systems are available in 2-D, 3-D, 2-D Tracking and 3-D Laser assisted configurations.
